Select ’Southern: BSC’s premier open house for admitted students

Much of what makes Birmingham-Southern College one of the best liberal arts colleges in the nation, a 2018 “hidden Southeast gem” by College Raptor Inc., and a destination for extraordinary students from Alabama, the nation, and the world who are on a journey to lead lives of significance, will be on display at Select ’Southern, on Sunday, March 4, and Monday, March 5.

BSC President Linda Flaherty-Goldsmith will open Select ‘Southern on Sunday with a welcome address at 2:30 p.m. in Munger Hall Auditorium.

Each year, more than 150 current Birmingham-Southern students volunteer to host prospective students overnight in their residence halls ensuring that every Select ’Southern registrant has the opportunity to experience what it’s like to live on campus. The program also includes panels and a resource fair, where families will hear from current students, BSC’s award-winning faculty, staff, and recent graduates about opportunities in academics, student life, the city of Birmingham, career preparation, athletics, and more — all factors that make the campus a top attraction for some of the best students around.

Select ’Southern also offers the unique opportunity for prospective students to experience the Magic City with a social at Regions Field—home of Birmingham’s minor league baseball team—and bowling across town with current students. On Monday morning, prospective students will be welcomed by faculty to attend classes across campus in various areas of study, and the program will close with a message from a senior student and a send-off from Flaherty-Goldsmith.

If you can’t make it to Select ’Southern, schedule a visit to campus today here.
