    Library

    The Charles Andrew Rush Learning CenterN.E. Miles Library  is a central space on campus for study, research, and learning with more than a quarter-million catalogued items, including 35,000 print and electronic periodicals. Students and scholars can focus and connect in safe and quiet areas for individuals and groups; wi-fi, computers, printing and copying, videoconferencing, and 3D printing are available.

    Academic Consortia

    BSC is a proud member of:

    Colleges That Change Lives, a group of colleges included in one or more editions of the book by the same name, which was created to highlight institutions that are centered on student learning and committed to “a personalized and transformative collegiate experience.” BSC was in the original and second version of the book, Colleges That Change Lives: 40 Schools That Will Change the Way You Think About Colleges.

    The Associated Colleges of the South, a consortium of 16 nationally recognized colleges and universities committed to providing the best liberal arts education possible at the most affordable price available. ACS institutions work together to improve student experiences, enhance curriculum, and provide learning programs for faculty and staff.

    The Birmingham Consortium for Higher Education (BACHE), a partnership among the five four-year colleges and universities in the greater Birmingham area. BACHE allows BSC students to take courses at partner institutions, brings visiting lecturers to the campus, and provides support services for faculty, staff, and the campus community.

    The Annapolis Group, an association of 130 of the nation’s leading liberal arts colleges that work together to share the values of liberal arts education, share best practices, and seek higher levels of excellence.

    Phi Beta Kappa

    BSC is one of fewer than 290 colleges in the United States (and one of only three in Alabama) to shelter a chapter of Phi Beta Kappa. This honor society considers members of the top 10 percent of the graduating class for election based on good character and a record of academic performance in a broad range of courses. Each year, the chapter brings distinguished scholars to campus to speak.
