BSC’s Stirling Lecture to feature New York Times Bestselling Author Sarah Knight

For Immediate Release
Mar. 7, 2022

SarahKnightHeadshot.pngBirmingham-Southern will welcome New York Times bestselling author Sarah Knight on Tuesday, April 19, for the college’s 2022 Alex P. Stirling Lecture.

The 7 p.m. presentation will be held in Bruno Great Hall in BSC’s Norton Campus Center. Admission is free and open to the public; doors open at 6 p.m.

Sarah Knight is the bestselling author of “The Life-Changing Magic of Not Giving a F*ck.” With more than 3 million copies in print, Sarah Knight’s No Fucks Given Guides — including “Get Your Shit Together,” which was on the New York Times bestseller list for 16 weeks — have been published in 31 languages worldwide. Knight's TEDx talk, “The Magic of Not Giving a F*ck,” has more than 10 million views and her writing has appeared in national publications including Glamour, Harper’s Bazaar, and Marie Claire.

Knight uses humor, silly charts, long-form analogies, and trademark profanity to explore feelings people have but are afraid to act on. The Boston Globe calls her advice "Self-help to swear by." She hosts the popular No Fucks Given podcast, which reached #1 on the Apple Education charts in 2021. "The Life-Changing Magic of Not Giving a F*ck" is currently in development for film with New Line Cinema.

Before becoming an “anti-guru,” Knight was a book editor in New York City for 15 years, working with writers such as Chris Cleave, James Lee Burke, Gillian Flynn, Jen Kirkman, Jessica Knoll, Emily Nagoski, Jay Raynor, and more. She currently lives in the Dominican Republic.

The BSC Student Government Association sponsors the Stirling Lecture Series in memory of Alex Stirling, a Birmingham-Southern student who died of cancer in 1995.
