BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—Birmingham-Southern College is hosting a week of activities starting Monday, Nov. 12 to highlight the benefits of international education and exchange worldwide. This year’s International Education Week (IEW) theme is “Global Issues and Opportunities.”

“For our campus community, International Education Week is a time to honor all cultures represented in our community, to participate in projects that inspire us to think beyond ourselves, and to educate students about the extraordinary opportunities to engage with the global community through study, internships, service, research, performance, and work,” said Anne Ledvina, associate director of the Herb and Ellie Sklenar Center for International Programs at BSC.

IEW is co-sponsored by the college’s Krulak Institute for Leadership, Experiential Learning, and Civic Engagement and Cross-Cultural Committee and is a joint initiative of the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Department of Education. The week’s activities are designed to educate attendees as well as to reflect on the diversity of students from countries around the world.
