Birmingham-Southern featured in Fiske Guide to Colleges, The Princeton Review Best Colleges

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. —Birmingham-Southern College is featured in both the Fiske Guide to Colleges 2021 and The Princeton Review’s 2021 Best Regional Colleges List.

vw16fgOA.jpegAs the best-selling college guide on the market, Fiske offers profiles of more than 300 of the “best and most interesting” colleges in the country. The annual report has been a source of crucial information for students, parents, and guidance counselors for more than 30 years.

The Princeton Review’s list names BSC among 142 of the best colleges and universities in the Southeast and 655 in the nation based on academic excellence.

“We are pleased to be recognized as one of the nation’s top colleges by Fiske and The Princeton Review,” said BSC President Daniel B. Coleman. “Birmingham-Southern’s emphasis on critical thinking, community, and lifelong learning is more important than ever. As we tackle difficult times, we continue to prepare our students to lead the way in leadership and service.”

The Fiske Guide highlights BSC as a school “striving to prepare students for all aspects of the modern world, with high-tech facilities and a curriculum that prioritizes critical thinking, teamwork, and global awareness.”

This year’s report names several programs and organizations in particular, including the four-week Explorations term, the Krulak Institute, the Cross Cultural Committee. It also discusses the introduction of new majors and the focus on community service, among other important parts of the BSC education and experience.

Students quoted in the Fiske Guide recommend BSC to students who “want to spend four years preparing, maturing, and challenging their minds so that they can make a difference in the world.” Read the full report here.
