    Academic Programs Assistant

    Birmingham-Southern College has an opening for an Academic Programs Assistant in the Science and Mathematics division. This position will provide administrative support in the academic areas of Biology, Chemistry, Health Professions Program, Mathematics, and Physics. 

    Responsibilities will include managing all departmental correspondence including email distribution lists, maintaining all department files, assisting department chairs in budget administration, and providing administrative assistance to Health Professions Advisor and Committee. This position will also supervise work study students, organize all aspects of Departmental Honors Day awards ceremony, and assist with faculty searches.

    Qualified candidates will have experience in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and keyboarding skills of 55 wpm is required. Must possess excellent communication skills and the ability to multitask.  High school diploma or equivalent is required, some college preferred. Two years of administrative assistant/clerical experience is required.

    Admission Counselor

    Birmingham-Southern College has an opening for an Admission Counselor.  The qualified candidate will have a bachelor’s degree and a preferred one year Admission recruiting experience or College counseling; preferably in a private, liberal arts setting; must be a self-starter with strong planning and communication skills. Must have the ability to articulate the value of a private, liberal arts education. Knowledge of the Admission/Financial Aid process is preferred.

    The Admission Counselor will attend college fairs, visit high schools, and other events in order to establish and maintain relationships with high school counselors, prospective students, and parents. Must also plan and execute 6 – 8 weeks combined fall and spring recruitment travel within assigned geographic territory.

    Assistant Coach of Women’s Basketball

    Birmingham-Southern College has an opening for Assistant Coach of Women’s Basketball.  The Assistant Coach will recruit, train, and coach members of the women’s basketball team, schedule games and perform various administrative duties.  This is a full-time, twelve month position.  Birmingham-Southern College is a member of the Southern Athletic Association and a member of the NCAA at the Division III level. 

    Bachelor’s degree required, master’s degree preferred. A strong commitment to the Student-Athlete concept and a working knowledge of the NCAA rules and regulations is required.  Collegiate playing experience as well as one to two years coaching experience including effective leadership, communication, and recruiting skills is preferred.

    Assistant VP for Information Technology

    Birmingham-Southern College has an opening for an Assistant Vice President (AVP) for Information Technology. The AVP assists the Vice President for IT in the strategic management and direction of all IT programs, services and policies.  This position directs and manages the day to day operations of the Network and Telecom Infrastructures, the Helpdesk Services/Call Center and establishes work priorities of subordinates and peers in meeting deadlines of on-going projects. The AVP also serves as the technical lead for the College’s blended learning initiative. 

    The qualified candidate will have experience supervising a campus-wide IT helpdesk and managing multifaceted projects including budget development. Knowledge of large, complex enterprise networks and telecommunication technologies as it relates to a campus environment is essential.  In addition to excellent interpersonal and communication skills, the successful candidate will also have the ability to negotiate complex contracts. Expertise in designing, implementing, and administration over a large, complex enterprise network and security knowledge as it relates to remote secure access is desired.

    A bachelor’s degree in a business or information technology related field plus 7 years of experience including 5 years of experience administrating large enterprise networks is required.

    Customer Service Coordinator

    Birmingham-Southern College has an opening for Customer Service Coordinator for the Office of Financial Aid. This position coordinates the workflow of the Office of Financial Aid and serves as the front-line point of contact. The Coordinator answers all incoming calls and coordinates office traffic flow in support of other Financial Aid staff members. This position helps students and parents understand the financial planning process and what steps are needed to complete it. In addition, the Coordinator is responsible for the supervision, scheduling, and work assignments of departmental work-study students.

    Qualified candidates will have a bachelor’s degree and 2 years of relevant work experience, preferred. Knowledge of MS Word/Excel/Outlook. Strong communication skills. Good customer service skills. Ability to handle work under minimal supervision. Ability to meet deadlines under short/tight time restraints. Ability to organize and manage office traffic.

    Director of Institutional Research and Effectiveness

    Birmingham-Southern College is seeking a Director of Institutional Research and Effectiveness.  The Director reports to the President and supports the President and Senior Team by providing direction and leadership for initiatives related to institutional effectiveness and for implementation of the College’s strategic plan. This position develops and generates data to inform systematic, broad-based, and interrelated planning processes for the educational, administrative and support activities of the College; engages in research to help the president and senior team, as well as all administrative and academic departments of the College; and identifies appropriate outcome measures and benchmarking tools. The Director of Institutional Research and Effectiveness oversees accreditation initiatives to support the mission of the College and serves as liaison to SACS-COC.

    Qualified candidates will have a master’s degree (PhD preferred) in higher education, data analytics, the social sciences, statistics, or a related field, and a minimum of five years of experience in a higher education setting. Candidates must demonstrate in-depth knowledge of research methods and advanced statistical analysis techniques, as well as statistical analysis software; be experienced in identifying, generating and using data for problem solving and decision-making; demonstrate excellent communication, facilitation, and collaboration skills, as well as the ability to engage successfully in college-wide strategic decision-making and planning processes; have highly developed organizational and leadership skills; and have experience in prioritizing multiple and varied projects and initiatives required.

    Regional Recruitment Counselor

    Birmingham-Southern College invites applications and nominations for the position of Regional Recruitment Counselor in Atlanta, GA. This is a remote position not based in Birmingham.

    Videographer

    Birmingham-Southern College has an opening for Videographer. Provides video and photo content for use in boosting and expanding the reputation of Birmingham-Southern College to various constituencies, including prospective students, donors, alumni, families, and the general public. Works collaboratively with offices and individuals to generate creative and unique ideas to promote Birmingham-Southern College and its programs, working to develop video projects and photo shoots, lending strategic guidance, scheduling all stages of the project, working through drafts, and completing it on deadline.

    Applicants must have a bachelor’s degree and at least one year of proven experience in producing, shooting, editing, and distributing videos and still images across the web, print, and other means of reaching target audiences. Must have excellent photography and videography skills. Self-motivation, multi-tasking skills, and the ability to meet deadlines on several projects running simultaneously required. Must have a fresh creative eye and an eagerness to stay up-to-date on design trends and adapt them to the needs and style of the college. Proficiency in Microsoft Office’s Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. A strong understanding of marketing principles and strategies is required.

    Visiting Instructor of Religion


    Birmingham-Southern College invites applications for a visiting instructor position in Christian Ethics and/or Christian Theology beginning August 2017. The appointment will be for a period of 9 months, and duties will include teaching undergraduate courses with a 3-1-3 teaching load. Applicants must possess at least a master’s degree in Religion.
