Campus Life

Welcome Home

Your family loves you. They know you. And they push you to be your very best. BSC prides itself on providing a supportive, engaged, residential community—a home away from home. More than 90 percent of our students live on campus, making the Hilltop a place to live, eat, learn, and play together. It’s a place to follow your passions, and maybe find some new ones.

    'Southern Rideshare

    'Southern Rideshare

'Southern Rideshare is a service for students when personal transportation around Birmingham is a challenge. SGA has allocated funds to support your use of any rideshare or taxi services when you’re unable to use a personal vehicle to transport you for essential, personal needs. For example, when you need to go shopping at a local grocery or other retail location, go to an appointment with a health care professional, or have a similar essential need for transportation, you will be able to gain reimbursement from the funds SGA has allocated. To register for the rideshare program, please use this form. To get reimbursed for your travel, please use this form.

"Out on the Town" Safety Tips From BSC Campus Police

The BSC Campus Police strive to maintain a safe and secure campus. They also want to educate you on how to stay safe when you are off campus.  Below are a few helpful hints for you to remember.

    • Always be aware of your surroundings.
    • Stay away from deserted or poorly lit areas.
    • Travel in groups if possible.
    • Do not accept rides from strangers or people who make you feel uneasy.
    • Always be careful when strangers approach you.  This rule is true no matter where you are.
    • Always be prepared with a fully charged cell phone and carry a small amount of emergency change in case you need to use a pay phone.
    • If you need emergency transportation, call your BSC Campus Police at 205/226-4700.

Most importantly, if you are suspicious of a location, leave!  Always trust your instincts in matters of personal safety!
