Brief Career Background:

Sylvester earned his B.S. in Accounting and Master of Business Administration from Alabama A&M University. He went on to earn his Doctor of Business Administration with a focus in Accounting from Creighton University. He is also a Certified Public Accountant. Sylvester joined the BSC faculty as an Assistant Professor in the 2021-22 academic year after serving as an Instructor during the 2020-21 academic year at Alabama A&M University.

Research Interests:

Fraud Accounting, Governance, Gender issues in Accounting, Diversity in Accounting, Ethics in Accounting, and Retention in the accounting industry  

Courses Taught:

AC 222 Managerial Accounting An introduction to managerial accounting. Special attention to accounting for manufacturing and to the preparation and analysis of financial statements.

AC 421 Auditing I A study of the theory of financial compliance and operational audits. The performance of a simulated audit and case presentation provides students with practice in applying professional auditing procedures for evidence gathering, evaluation, reporting, ethics, legal liability, and teamwork.

GEN 68 Changing Hobbies to Hustles: The Art of Stock InvestmentsThe course exposes students to the stock investment process boosting the student's confidence to participate in the stock market, emphasizing public companies students are excited about or companies students use when playing games.
