Blakemore Freeman Fellowship
Supports one year of full-time, advanced language study in East or Southeast Asia. Fellows must be pursuing a professional or academic career that involves regular use of a modern Asian language.

Boren Fellowships
up to $30,000 to U.S. graduate students to add an important international and language component to their graduate education through specialization in area study, language study, or increased language proficiency. Boren Fellowships support study and research inareas of the world that are critical to U.S. interests, including Africa, Asia, Central & Eastern Europe, Eurasia, Latin America, and the Middle East.

Carnegie Endowment’s Junior Fellowship Program
Awarded to uniquely qualified graduating seniors and recent graduates, recipients work for one year as research assistants to the Endowment’s senior associates. They receive a $36,000 annual stipend and conduct research for books, co-author journal articles and policy papers, participate in meetings with high-level officials, contribute to congressional testimony, and organize briefings. To be eligible, candidates must be nominated by the faculty representative at their undergraduate institution.

Cooke Graduate Scholarship
Graduate Arts Award provides for up to $50,000 per year for up to three years to college seniors and recent graduates with significant financial need who will pursue a graduate or professional degree in the visual arts, performing arts, or creative writing. To be eligible, candidates must be nominated by the faculty representative at their undergraduate institution.

Fulbright (U.S. Student Program)
Advances cross-cultural interaction and mutual understanding by placing students in research and teaching positions across the globe. The U.S. Department of State sponsors the Fulbright Program, which provides funds for students to study abroad to promote cross-cultural interaction and mutual understanding through research or teaching abroad the year following their undergraduate degree. Fulbright scholars receive full expenses or travel costs.

Gates Cambridge Scholarship
Full cost scholarships for outstanding applicants from outside the United Kingdom to pursue a postgraduate degree in any subject at the University of Cambridge.

Madison Graduate Fellowship
The James Madison Memorial Fellowship Foundation promotes improved teaching of the U.S. Constitution in secondary schools. Students pursuing a master’s degree in order to teach American history, American government, or social studies should apply. Maximum award is $24,000 for two years.

Marshall Scholarships
Open to U.S. citizens who are graduates of an accredited four-year college or university who have at least a 3.7 GPA, these scholarships cover tuition, travel, and living expenses for two years at a British university.

The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation provides grants to students pursuing graduate study leading to a Ph.D. in a humanistic discipline for the purpose of a teaching career. Maximum award is first year tuition and fees plus $14,750.

Mitchell Scholarship
Tuition, accommodations, a living expenses stipend, and an international travel stipend for one year of postgraduate study in any discipline offered by institutions of higher learning in Ireland and Northern Ireland. Criteria for selection include scholarship, leadership, and a sustained commitment to community and public service.

National Science Foundation (GRFP)
The Graduate Research Fellowship Program provides $30,000 annual stipend plus $10,500 cost of education allowance for tuition and fees for three years for graduate study for individuals who have demonstrated their potential for significant achievements in science and engineering research.

Rhodes Scholarships
Begun in 1902, the Rhodes Scholarships allow outstanding students from many countries around the world to study at the University of Oxford. Rhodes Scholars are elected for two years of graduate study at Oxford, with the possibility of renewal for a third year. Rhodes Trustees pay all of the scholar’s educational expenses.

Rotary Global Scholar Grant
The Rotary Global Scholar Grant is for graduate study in an accredited institution outside of the United States. Applicants must study in an academic field that clearly supports one or more of the Rotary Foundation's Six Areas of Focus (the world's most challenging humanitarian needs). The minimum award is $30,000, but may be higher.

The Herbert Scoville Jr. Peace Fellowship
Provides a stipend for college graduates to work for six to nine months at a nonprofit, public-interest organization in Washington, DC, that addresses peace and security issues. Fellows are selected twice a year.

A seven-week summer program that prepares students for graduate programs in international and public affairs. The Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship and Excellence in Education Program pays tribute to Senator Barry M.
