Brief Career Background:
Before coming to BSC, I taught at the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa for 32 years, retiring as a Professor Emeritus. For the last 7 years of my tenure there I was also the Undergraduate Coordinator for Political Science.

Teaching and Research Interests:
My dissertation was on Presidential-Congressional relations. I continued to work in that area, as well as collaborating on research dealing with the effects of divided or multiparty government, US party organizations' financial and policy activities, question wording effects in surveys, and the impact of state education spending on economic growth. My teaching specializations are Presidency, Congress, and Southern Politics.
