THEATRE FACULTY INFORMATION Michael Flowers , Professor MFA, Directing, University of Mississippi, 1982 / BFA, Theatre, Arkansas State University, 1979 Entering his 36 th year of teaching at the college/university level, Michael has directed over ninety productions in educational, professional, and community theatre. Having taught most of the courses in the BSC Theatre curriculum at one time or another, Michael now focuses primarily on acting and musical theatre. This year Michael will be on sabbatical in the Fall and January. Alan Litsey , Professor, Chair Department of Theatre PhD, Directing, Wayne State University, 1991 / MFA, Acting, Michigan State University, 1984 / BFA, Theatre, University of LaVerne, 1981 Alan has been a member of the theatre faculty since 1991. In addition to acting and directing, Alan’s interests include theatre literature and playwriting. He has served as President of the Southeastern Theatre Conference (SETC) and is a member of the Actors’ Equity Association. His plays have been performed in the southeast, the Edinburgh Festival, and Bulgaria. This year Alan will direct The Tempest . Matthew Mielke , Professor / Technical Director / Set and Lighting Designer MFA, Theatre Design and Technology, University of Minnesota, 1986 / BA, Gustavus Adolphus College, 1982 Matthew has worked professionally at the Tyrone Guthrie Theatre, Santa Fe Opera, Southern Ballet Theatre, and as a free-lance scenic and lighting designer and theatre consultant and taught at Gustavus Adolphus College, Clemson University, and, since 1990, at BSC. He’s a past winner of the Lois Garren Award for Excellence in Design and a member of the United States Institute for Theatre Technology. This season he will design The Tempest and Pippin . His interests include history, aviation, and CADD (computer aided design and drafting). Jamorris Rivers , Adjunct Professor of Dance BA, University of Alabama Jamorris is the current Artistic Director of Arova Contemporary Ballet. He enjoys teaching various dance forms at The Dance Foundation. While attending UA, he was a member of both the Alabama Repertory Dance Theater and Dance Alabama. Jamorris was presented with the Edith Barnes Choreography Award his senior year. He then continued dancing with the Alabama Ballet performing various works by choreographers such as Marius Petitpa, George Balanchine, Twyla Tharp, Alan Hineline, Septime Weber, Brandon Ragland, and Roger Van Fleteren. Jamorris performed modern works by Teri Weksler’s Southern Danceworks. Jamorris has danced and choreographed several contemporary works for Arova, founded by Alison Page. He also toured internationally with Complexions Contemporary Ballet performing Dwight Rhoden and Desmond Richardson’s repertoire throughout New York, Europe, Australia and Brazil. Jamorris taught contemporary dance, jazz, tap, and modern at Samford University. Other teaching credits include The Alabama Ballet, The American Ballet Theater Summer Intensives, The Alabama School of Fine Arts, Birmingham-Southern College, and the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Jamorris’ goal is to challenge the next generation of artists to not only dance for fun, fitness, and entertainment, but to use dance as a tool for creativity; expressing thoughts, emotions, and experiences. He believes dance is a natural vital force of creative energy that needs to be set free in order to fuel dialogue necessary in coping with every aspect of daily life. Heidi Nicole Stoeckley , Adjunct Professor of Dance BA, The Juilliard School and The Virginia School of the Arts MA, Arts Administration, Columbia University Heidi Nicole Stoeckley is a former professional dancer with the Martha Graham Dance Company. She is a graduate of The Juilliard School and The Virginia School of the Arts. Stoeckley is featured in numerous publications, including the DVD For Dancers: The Alexander Technique, the PBS Television production American Masters on Juilliard, a documentary film on the Martha Graham dance technique entitled La Voz Del Cuerpo/ The Body Speaks, the photography album Acts of Light: Martha Graham of the 21st Century, VOGUE Magazine, The New York Times and Dance Magazine, among others. Stoeckley served as Professor of Modern Dance and Choreography at Singapore's School of the Arts (SOTA) from 2010-2014, and most recently as Artistic Director of The Dance Foundation in Birmingham, Alabama. She holds an MA in Arts Administration from Columbia University. Rebecca Yeager , Adjunct Professor of Theatre MFA, Performance, University of Southern Mississippi, 2013 / BA, Musical Theatre, Birmingham-Southern College, 2006 Rebecca joined BSC’s faculty spring 2015 teaching Voice and Movement. This fall she’s teaching Beginning Acting. Rebecca specializes in integrated movement, vocal, and performance technique for the actor, including yoga and stage combat, Lugering technique, and Commedia dell’Arte. She has a love for classical texts, especially Shakespeare, Moliere, and Greek tragedy. Rebecca has received awards, grants, and publications for her creative and academic research including classical and movement based educational outreach work, and her MFA creative project work on Sara Ruhl’s Eurydice. She’s both an Irene Ryan Nominee and Regional Semi-Finalist at the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival. Rebecca is a working actor and an acting teacher to students in grades 1-12 at The Dance Foundation.
