We strongly encourage all new students and their parents to attend one

of three Summer Orientation days—on June 9, 10, or 12. You can register

online for your preferred date by completing the Summer Orientation

and Course Preference Form, which is found on the Orientation webpage

Even if you are unable to

attend Summer Orientation, you should complete this form by May 15 so

that we can be fully prepared for your arrival in the fall!

During Summer Orientation, you will meet other new students, consult

with a faculty advisor, review your fall class schedule, and receive

information about getting ready for college. It’s the best way to connect

with the campus! If you have questions, please contact our Dean of

Students Ben Newhouse at

or (205) 226-4725.

MAY 15

, all students should

complete the following:

Summer Orientation and Course

Preference Form (instructions

provided in this packet)

Housing Application

(residential students only)

Placement Exams (as needed)

If you plan to take a Spanish or Chemistry

class during the fall term, you will need

to complete the appropriate online

placement exam by May 15. The Spanish

placement exam takes about ten minutes

to complete. Chemistry is a 90-minute

timed exam. Based on your scores,

faculty will assign you to the course that

best matches your content mastery. The

exams, along with additional instructions,

can be found under the “Useful Links”

menu on the Orientation webpage.

All of us on campus are eagerly preparing for your arrival on the Hilltop

this fall. We hope this packet will help make your transition as seamless

as possible. It includes essential steps and deadlines, along with other

important information. Please take a look through it now and then refer

back to it over the next few months as you get ready to join us.

At BSC, we’re committed to making a life-changing educational

experience a reality for you. Our robust Explorations curriculum, caring

faculty members who are at the top of their fields, customizable January

Exploration Term, and abundant experiential learning opportunities will
