initiative, Professor of Theatre Alan Litsey debuted his first service-learning integrated
course, Theatre’s Call to Action in fall 2015. Students explored theatre as a collaborative art form that
engages community critically, emotionally, and behaviorally. Selected teachers at our neighborhood
school, Bush Hills Academy, were interviewed by Dr. Litsey’s students who then created a performance
project about the life of a teacher. Students spent time tutoring at Bush Hills Academy to familiarize
themselves with the school’s culture. The final project was performed at Bush Hills Academy for the
teachers and on campus for the student body.
