“My semester in Birmingham, England forced me to depend
on myself to navigate public transportation, which I had never
had to do before. I also learned to depend on those who helped
me along the way and actually pay attention to the advice
of more knowledgeable people. Ultimately, I learned the
importance of independence, interdependence, and gained a
new appreciation for what I have at home in Alabama.”
