PS 498) or an internship in political science.
(4) Demonstrate disciplinary depth, analytical skill, and intellectual insight and
originality in the completion of the senior capstone project and conference (PS 470 and
PS 472), as evaluated and determined by the political scien
ce faculty.

The purpose of a major in psychology is to provide a background of knowledge for
students going on to graduate work in psychology, as well as for those students going
into a variety of professions that require an understanding of the principles of human
behavior.
Upon completion of the psychology major, students will be able to
¥
articulate major concepts, theoretical perspectives, and empirical findings of
psychology
¥
understand and apply basic research methods in psychology, including research
designs, data analysis, and interpretation
¥
respect and use critical and creative thinking, skeptical inquiry, and, when
possible, the scientific approach to solve problems related to behavior and
mental processes
¥
demonstrate information competence and the ability to use computers and other
technology for many purposes
¥
communicate effectively in a variety of formats
