An international experience can be one the highlights of your college experience. However, it can be challenging for science students to study abroad since some essential science courses must be taken sequentially. We have several opportunities for BSC Biology students to have an international academic experience while staying on-track for their degree and preparation for professional school.
Each January interim courses are taught abroad by BSC faculty. Recent courses have visited Italy, Guatemala, Ireland, and Costa Rica. Recent biology interim courses have studied the biology of the Galapagos Islands, Ecuador and coral reef ecology in Honduras.
Students can spend a semester abroad at one of several top-tier international universities with which we have established programs. Courses taken are in English and with pre-approval can count towards your BSC degree. Financial support from BSC is available to help make these opportunities possible. Students remain enrolled at BSC while abroad. We have exchange programs and university partnerships with these institutions:
University of Limerick, Limerick, Ireland
Hong Kong Baptist, Hong Kong, China
University of Birmingham, Birmingham, England
American University, Cairo, Egypt
International Academic Organizations:
We have opportunities for students to take field biology courses during a semester or summer abroad with the Organization for Tropical Studies (OTS) and the School for Field Studies (SFS). Courses offered can be pre-approved to count towards your biology degree at BSC. These experiences are invaluable for students planning a career in field biology.
