The marketplace spoke. We listened.

Students and families have been telling colleges across the United States that a high published price is an obstacle to their education.

We heard them. And now BSC is responding to prevent “sticker shock.”

We are resetting the published price of tuition and fees for the 2018-19 academic year (starting Fall 2018). While most colleges and universities will raise tuition and fees yet again, we’re lowering ours by more than half, to $17,750.

How it works

For most students and families at BSC, our published price is nowhere near the same as their actual cost. The published price is only the starting point. Any federal and state financial aid for which a student qualifies is subtracted from the published price. And then BSC awards its own merit- and need-based financial aid on top of that. This is also subtracted from the published price to make the net cost that families actually pay even more affordable.

BSC will continue to award scholarships and grants to eligible families after our tuition reset. Yet these families will not require the same high aid packages to bring BSC in reach now that we’ve lowered their starting price by more than $18,000.

Future savings

By preventing a standard 3.9% increase, the reset saves current students at least $1,400. And any future tuition increases will be smaller than what students would have faced without a reset, since the standard percentage will be applied to a much lower base amount.

Value = Quality + Results

Affordability is just one part of the value equation, which also factors in what our students get for their investment.

“As private college sticker prices and tuition discount rates edged ever higher in recent years, there has been much hand-wringing and debate over whether the cost of college has reached a breaking point.” --Inside Higher Education, August 2017
