Dr. Edward Leonard III began his official duties as president of Birmingham-Southern College this month. Leonard, who has more than 20 years of experience in higher education leadership, joins BSC from Bethany College in Kansas.

Birmingham-Southern College has been granted reaffirmation of its accreditation by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC), officials announced recently.

Dr. Amy Cottrill, Denson N. Franklin Associate Professor of Religion at Birmingham-Southern College, has been selected from a nationwide pool of nominees to participate in a faculty seminar in Chicago on teaching interfaith understanding.

Gen. Charles C. Krulak, the recently retired president of Birmingham-Southern College, has been named to the boards of the Altamont School in Birmingham and Sweet Briar College in Sweet Briar, Va.

BSC Board of Trustees elects three new members
Birmingham-Southern elected three new members to its Board of Trustees at its spring meeting: Robert "Bob" M. Dixon Jr. '84 of Eufaula, Ala.; Walter "Wally" B. Evans Jr. of Birmingham; and John "Jamey" J. McMahon III '99 of Birmingham.
