Veterans Educational Benefits
Birmingham-Southern College is approved by the State Approving Agency to certify students who are eligible for Veterans Educational Benefits. For further information on this program or to see if you qualify, please contact the Department of Veterans Affairs at 1-800-827-1000. The campus representative is the Financial Aid Office.
The steps to apply for benefits:
- Use http://www.va.gov/ to determine the benefits for which you may be eligible. Identify your eligibility; then use the VA form finder to find the correct form.
- Send this to the VA regional office with jurisdiction over the State:

- They will provide you with an educational benefit eligibility letter which you will turn in to the BSC records office (it would be a good idea to give the financial aid office a copy) – this form tells us how much of a benefit you will receive from the VA.
- BSC will send in a VA Form 22-1999, Enrollment Certification to give the start and stop dates of the benefits.
