BSC Photo of the Week

Hilltop Photo of the Week

Welcome to Birmingham-Southern's “Hilltop Photo of the Week” webpage and archives. Each week at this site, we'll feature a photo that depicts some aspect of life on the Hilltop campus, along with brief information about what is taking place in the Photo of the Week.

The college welcomes submissions to be considered for the Hilltop Photo of the Week. Scanned or digital photos can be e-mailed to the Office of Communications at pcole@bsc.edu, or photographic prints may be sent through campus mail to Box 549004. Please limit photo submissions to those that depict some aspect of the BSC experience, and be sure to identify what is taking place in the photo, along with location and people involved.

Hoops group—Birmingham-Southern is hosting several basketball camps this summer at Bill Battle Coliseum to offer young, enthusiastic players a chance to improve their game. The four-day Summer Basketball Camp, led by BSC Head Men’s Basketball Coach Chris Graves, targets girls and boys who will be entering kindergarten through the fourth grade this fall. The camp reinforces core basketball principles and develops individual skills through competition, drills, and character training. Campers also are treated to lunch each day and receive a BSC T-shirt and basketball. The first camp session was held July 9-12 and enrolled more than 50 youth from as far away as France. The next camp session will take place July 23-26. In addition, the college is hosting team basketball camps throughout the summer for more than 100 high schools. Pictured with the campers are the Birmingham-Southern basketball student-athletes and coaching staff who are serving as camp counselors: on back row are Jonathan Vines, assistant men’s basketball coach, and Ashton Spurgin, a May 2012 graduate; on front row are Larry Thomas (second from left), a rising sophomore, and Alex Avery (second from right), an incoming freshman this fall.
