Hilltop Photo of the WeekWelcome to Birmingham-Southern's “Hilltop Photo of the Week” webpage and archives. Each week at this site, we'll feature a photo that depicts some aspect of life on the Hilltop campus, along with brief information about what is taking place in the Photo of the Week. The college welcomes submissions to be considered for the Hilltop Photo of the Week. Scanned or digital photos can be e-mailed to the Office of Communications at pcole@bsc.edu, or photographic prints may be sent through campus mail to Box 549004. Please limit photo submissions to those that depict some aspect of the BSC experience, and be sure to identify what is taking place in the photo, along with location and people involved. Follow the leaders—Dozens of incoming freshmen and their parents began arriving on campus June 8 for a Summer Orientation program, which sets the stage for a successful transition to college life. Session II of orientation followed on June 15, and the third and final session was June 22. This year marks the first time Birmingham-Southern offered three one-day sessions for new students. The families were welcomed by admission counselors, orientation leaders, and other staff members from the college, and were provided a light breakfast to start off their day. After registration, parents were escorted to the Stephens Science Center to attend information seminars conducted by faculty and staff, while the students were led to the Norton Theatre for an opening skit. After an in-depth tour of the campus, students were reunited with their parents for lunch and a Resource Fair. Featured are five orientation leaders preparing to greet new students at the June 15 session (l to r): Austin Fann, a junior business major from Birmingham; Austin Bier, a senior biology major from Huntsville; Shelby Kile, a sophomore biology major from Madison; Adam Eiring, a sophomore business major from Augusta, Ga.; and Will King, a sophomore biology major from Haleyville. Thanks to all the upperclassmen, staff, and faculty who volunteered for this huge undertaking! |
