Hilltop Photo of the Week
Welcome to Birmingham-Southern's “Hilltop Photo of the
Week” webpage and archives. Each week at this site, we'll
feature a photo that depicts some aspect of life on the Hilltop campus,
along with brief information about what is taking place in the Photo
of the Week.
The college welcomes submissions to be considered
for the Hilltop Photo of the Week. Scanned or digital photos can
be e-mailed to the
Office of Communications at pcole@bsc.edu, or photographic prints
may be sent through campus mail to Box 549004. Please limit photo submissions
to those that depict some aspect of the BSC experience, and be sure
to identify what is taking place in the photo, along with location
and people involved.

Family bonding time—Some 75 families came in from as far as New Hampshire to attend Birmingham-Southern College’s 2012 Family Weekend. On Friday, visitors were able to spend time with students in the café, in their residence halls, and at a men’s lacrosse game. On Saturday, families received a welcome from BSC President Gen. Charles Krulak, arranged visits with professors, attended informational sessions, and enjoyed student organization events around campus. Pictured is freshman educational services major Chandler Wentz of Marietta, Ga., with her father. The annual event is an opportunity for students to share their college experience with family and friends.

Singers taking center stage—Birmingham-Southern senior Mandy McDaniel shared her vocals in Opera Birmingham's production of Carmen, which was performed March 16-18. McDaniel, a music performance major from Birmingham, portrayed a gipsy woman. Pictured with her backstage at Samford University’s Wright Center (from left) are Corey McKern, principle singer for Opera Birmingham, costumed as the toreador Escamillo, and UAB medical school students Dan Maxwell and Alex Feldman, dressed as picadors.
