Hilltop Photo of the Week
Welcome to Birmingham-Southern's “Hilltop Photo of the Week” webpage and archives. Each week at this site, we'll feature a photo that depicts some aspect of life on the Hilltop campus, along with brief information about what is taking place in the Photo of the Week.
The college welcomes submissions to be considered for the Hilltop Photo of the Week. Scanned or digital photos can be e-mailed to the Office of Communications at email@example.com, or photographic prints may be sent through campus mail to Box 549004. Please limit photo submissions to those that depict some aspect of the BSC experience, and be sure to identify what is taking place in the photo, along with location and people involved.

Math wizards—How many different ways can eight people sit around a circular table?
Unless you’re really good, you probably won’t guess C as the correct answer. These type of questions can be difficult, but not for one group of talented Birmingham-Southern students. The BSC Math Team recently won the championship at the 2012 Mathematical Association of America Southeastern Section’s Math Jeopardy Contest, where 35 collegiate teams of three or four undergraduates competed in a mathematical version of the well-known question-and-answer game. The team eliminated Davidson College in the preliminary round, and swept Berry College, University of South Carolina, and Georgia Southern University in the final round. The competition was held at Clayton State University in Morrow, Ga. Members of the team (top photo, from left) are Ed Fay, who’s holding the team’s mascot (a cat) as well as the brain food that powered their victory; Steven Carter; Tianran "TR" Geng; and Nino Yu Tiamco (not pictured). The team was sponsored by Dr. Anne Yust, BSC assistant professor of mathematics.
