Hilltop Photo of the Week
Welcome to Birmingham-Southern's “Hilltop Photo of the
Week” webpage and archives. Each week at this site, we'll
feature a photo that depicts some aspect of life on the Hilltop campus,
along with brief information about what is taking place in the Photo
of the Week.
The college welcomes submissions to be considered
for the Hilltop Photo of the Week. Scanned or digital photos can
be e-mailed to the
Office of Communications at pcole@bsc.edu, or photographic prints
may be sent through campus mail to Box 549004. Please limit photo submissions
to those that depict some aspect of the BSC experience, and be sure
to identify what is taking place in the photo, along with location
and people involved.

A day out at Hampton Court—Four Birmingham-Southern students are learning everything from the oral tradition of early English literature to the queens and kings of the Tudor Dynasty at the 42nd annual British Studies in Oxford Program this summer. The students will be attending the six-week program through August 12 at St. John's College in Oxford, England, for two units of academic credit. This year’s theme is “Britain in the Renaissance.” While living and dining among the 16th-century courtyards, the students are attending daily lectures in the arts, history, literature, science, and philosophy. They’re also getting a chance to do some sightseeing around the city, which has included riding on a bus to and from a play at the Globe Theatre and visiting the Derbyshire equestrian community. Pictured recently at the Hampton Court Palace, the home of Henry VIII and other Tudors, are (from left to right) Emily Roebuck, a senior English major; Fairfax Davis, a junior psychology major; Megan Snider, a senior history major and Harrison Scholar; and Sarah Watts, a senior religion major. Dr. John Tatter, BSC professor of English, is in England with the students.
