BSC Photo of the Week

Hilltop Photo of the Week

Welcome to Birmingham-Southern's “Hilltop Photo of the Week” webpage and archives. Each week at this site, we'll feature a photo that depicts some aspect of life on the Hilltop campus, along with brief information about what is taking place in the Photo of the Week.

The college welcomes submissions to be considered for the Hilltop Photo of the Week. Scanned or digital photos can be e-mailed to the Office of Communications at pcole@bsc.edu, or photographic prints may be sent through campus mail to Box 549004. Please limit photo submissions to those that depict some aspect of the BSC experience, and be sure to identify what is taking place in the photo, along with location and people involved.

Child's play—The 11 dramatically-inclined youth who participated in Birmingham-Southern's Creative Arts Camp this summer brought a classic children's tale to life on the last day of camp. Pictured in the Hill Recital Hall during a scene of the play "Froggie Went a Courtin'" are (from left to right) Elana Cowan, who portrayed Prissy; Ryan Respinto, who played the role of Froggie; and Molly Cowan, who portrayed Miss Mousie. The Cowans are the children of Dr. Tynes Cowan, BSC assistant professor of English. The play is about a lovesick frog and his search for the perfect lady. The Creative Arts Camp, directed by Jeanmarie Collins, is held on campus each June for first through fifth graders and hosted by the BSC Conservatory of Music. The conservatory also hosts a Performance Camp each summer for teens. Each camp provides a weeklong foray into the basics of theatre, including costume design, monologues, improvisation, and voice/diction.
