BSC Photo of the Week

Hilltop Photo of the Week

Welcome to Birmingham-Southern's “Hilltop Photo of the Week” webpage and archives. Each week at this site, we'll feature a photo that depicts some aspect of life on the Hilltop campus, along with brief information about what is taking place in the Photo of the Week.

The college welcomes submissions to be considered for the Hilltop Photo of the Week. Scanned or digital photos can be e-mailed to the Office of Communications at pcole@bsc.edu, or photographic prints may be sent through campus mail to Box 549004. Please limit photo submissions to those that depict some aspect of the BSC experience, and be sure to identify what is taking place in the photo, along with location and people involved.

Game on—Lately, the college's Bill Battle Coliseum has been filled with the sounds of shoes squeaking and balls bouncing while campers practice their moves. BSC Women's Basketball Head Coach Brad Hodge is again leading this summer's women's basketball team camps in four sessions during the month of June for junior high and high school student-athletes and their coaches. Now in its 12th year, the women's basketball camp has grown into one of the South's largest-attended team camps. The sessions provide plenty of opportunities for team bonding as well as top-notch training in game situations and outstanding competition with sanctioned officials. Plus, the teams have access to four courts in Bill Battle Coliseum, the Bill Burch Gymnasium, and the Striplin Fitness Center. In the photo above, the Woodland High School team (in blue shorts) squares off against Ranburne High School in a practice game in the coliseum. Shown with her teammates below is Leah Strain (jersey No. 1), the sister of Trae Strain, a recent BSC graduate who played on the Panther football team. Also in the photo is their father, Larry Strain, who coaches the Woodland team. The next set of camps (Session III) will take place June 23-25 for varsity and junior varsity teams. For further information, you can contact the Women's Basketball Office at 205/226-7733 or visit www.bscsports.net for online registration.
