BSC Photo of the Week

Hilltop Photo of the Week

Welcome to Birmingham-Southern's “Hilltop Photo of the Week” webpage and archives. Each week at this site, we'll feature a photo that depicts some aspect of life on the Hilltop campus, along with brief information about what is taking place in the Photo of the Week.

The college welcomes submissions to be considered for the Hilltop Photo of the Week. Scanned or digital photos can be e-mailed to the Office of Communications at pcole@bsc.edu, or photographic prints may be sent through campus mail to Box 549004. Please limit photo submissions to those that depict some aspect of the BSC experience, and be sure to identify what is taking place in the photo, along with location and people involved.

Top athletes—BSC named its annual Athletes of the Year May 3 at the Athletics Awards Banquet.  On the women’s side (top photo), senior volleyball libero Jennifer McKannan (center) and junior softball pitcher Ronni Ferris (second from right) were named Co-Female Athletes of the Year.  They are shown with (from left) Assistant Athletics Director for Compliance and Assistant Volleyball Coach Kyndall Waters, Head Women’s Tennis Coach and Senior Women’s Administrator Ann Dielen, and Athletics Director Joe Dean Jr.  On the men’s side (bottom photo), senior baseball outfielder Drew Leachman (third from left), sophomore lacrosse attacker Matt Ivie (third from right), and senior football tailback Walter Arrington (second from right) were named Co-Male Athletes of the Year.  They also are pictured with Waters, Dielen, and Dean.  To read about all the awards presented at the banquet, visit www.bscsports.net.

‘Just Because’—The Office of Student Affairs recently hosted a student fun day at the college’s lake/park area “just because”—just because they wanted to do something fun for the students during the beautiful spring weather and before finals.  In addition to a plethora of ice cream, the students could relieve some stress on a rock climbing wall, a dunking booth, disk golf, ladder toss, and more.  In this photo, students play cornhole, a bean bag toss game now popular at athletics tailgating parties.
