Hilltop Photo of the Week
Welcome to Birmingham-Southern's “Hilltop Photo of the
Week” webpage and archives. Each week at this site, we'll
feature a photo that depicts some aspect of life on the Hilltop campus,
along with brief information about what is taking place in the Photo
of the Week.
The college welcomes submissions to be considered
for the Hilltop Photo of the Week. Scanned or digital photos can
be e-mailed to the
Office of Communications at pcole@bsc.edu, or photographic prints
may be sent through campus mail to Box 549004. Please limit photo submissions
to those that depict some aspect of the BSC experience, and be sure
to identify what is taking place in the photo, along with location
and people involved.

Odyssey in British culture—Birmingham-Southern religion professors Larry Brasher and Amy Cottrill took 17 students to England for the college’s 2011 Interim. They spent 10 days traveling throughout the country to places like Stratford upon Avon, Stonehenge, Bath, and London. The group is pictured in front of the Tower Bridge in London. They traveled mainly in Southern England and saw many castles and cathedrals. The student participants ranged from freshman to seniors with many different majors, including business and religion. “We were three days late departing because of weather, but we ended up having a wonderful time,” remarked Alex Lupo, a sophomore business major from Birmingham.

Fostering joyful sounds—BSC’s One A-Chord Gospel Choir will present its winter concert Feb. 21 at 7 p.m. in Yeilding Chapel on campus. The choir was formed in the fall of 2000 with only a handful of students. Ten years later, the choir has grown to a vibrant and dedicated group of 20-25 students They perform on the Hilltop, at other schools and churches, and sometimes out-of-state. The picture above was taken after the choir’s fall concert this past November. The upcoming concert is free and open to the public.
