Hilltop Photo of the Week
Welcome to Birmingham-Southern's “Hilltop Photo of the
Week” webpage and archives. Each week at this site, we'll
feature a photo that depicts some aspect of life on the Hilltop campus,
along with brief information about what is taking place in the Photo
of the Week.
The college welcomes submissions to be considered
for the Hilltop Photo of the Week. Scanned or digital photos can
be e-mailed to the
Office of Communications at pcole@bsc.edu, or photographic prints
may be sent through campus mail to Box 549004. Please limit photo submissions
to those that depict some aspect of the BSC experience, and be sure
to identify what is taking place in the photo, along with location
and people involved.

Fun and fundraising—A "Float Your Boat" public fundraising event was held Saturday, July 17, at the Turkey Creek Nature Preserve in Pinson. Birmingham-Southern and the college's Southern Environmental Center, through a partnership with Freshwater Land Trust and Alabama State Lands, manage the preserve. More than 170 boats were sold that day and then raced down the creek. Funds raised at the event will be used to benefit the preserve's educational center and the programs it provides. The city of Pinson co-sponsored this first annual event and provided free ice cream and popsicles. Boat race prizes were provided by Ace Hardware in Trussville, Home Depot, Academy Sports and Outdoors, and Ken's Hickory Pit Barbeque. Among the BSC students at the preserve that day (pictured above) were senior urban environmental studies major Samantha Horsley and senior psychology major Ameet Bosmia, who worked as an intern at the preserve this summer. Below, Bosmia helps guide a boat.
