Hilltop Photo of the Week
Welcome to Birmingham-Southern's “Hilltop Photo of the
Week” webpage and archives. Each week at this site, we'll
feature a photo that depicts some aspect of life on the Hilltop campus,
along with brief information about what is taking place in the Photo
of the Week.
The college welcomes submissions to be considered
for the Hilltop Photo of the Week. Scanned or digital photos can
be e-mailed to the
Office of Communications at pcole@bsc.edu, or photographic prints
may be sent through campus mail to Box 549004. Please limit photo submissions
to those that depict some aspect of the BSC experience, and be sure
to identify what is taking place in the photo, along with location
and people involved.

BSC blue shirts welcome newcomers—Birmingham-Southern's 2010 Summer Orientation staff of upperclassmen welcomed several hundred new, admitted students and their families to campus during June. For the first time at BSC, incoming students and parents had the opportunity to choose one of three daylong orientation sessions that were offered. When new students and parents arrived, they were split up in the morning with parents attending various seminars on financial aid, campus safety, and letting go, while students were treated to a short skit by orientation leaders making light of the day and the classic parent/college student relationship. Afterward, two of the leaders took groups of 10-15 students on a "Day in the Life" tour. "We designed this tour to provide an inside look at what being a student on the Hilltop is like," said Kelly Roszczynialski, a senior from Lafayette, La., who served as orientation coordinator. "Students got the opportunity to not only meet and 'pick the brains' of current students, but to spend some time getting to know their future classmates. Our overall goal was to make the incoming students leave feeling more comfortable about the campus and excited about arriving for Move-in Day Aug. 28."
