Hilltop Photo of the Week
Welcome to Birmingham-Southern's “Hilltop Photo of the
Week” web page and archives. Each week at this site, we'll
feature a photo that depicts some aspect of life on the Hilltop campus,
along with brief information about what is taking place in the Photo
of the Week.
The college welcomes submissions to be considered
for the Hilltop Photo of the Week. Scanned or digital photos can
be e-mailed to the
Office of Communications at pcole@bsc.edu, or photographic prints
may be sent through campus mail to Box 549004. Please limit photo submissions
to those that depict some aspect of the BSC experience, and be sure
to identify what is taking place in the photo, along with location
and people involved.

Sharing journalistic experiences—National political expert Gwen Ifill, host of PBS's “Washington Week” and senior correspondent for “The NewsHour with Jim Lehrer,” recently spoke in front of a public audience at Birmingham-Southern about “American Politics in the Age of Obama.” Ifill is the best-selling author of The Breakthrough: Politics and Race in the Age of Obama that was released this year. A campus reception and book signing followed her speech. Here, Armand Roeplall, a BSC exchange student from the Amsterdam School of Economics and Business, gets a signed copy. Ifill, who received an Honorary Doctorate of Laws degree from BSC in 1998, has covered six presidential campaigns, moderated the vice presidential debates during the presidential elections in 2004 and 2008, and during the 2008 campaign season, brought “Washington Week” to live audiences around the country as part of a 10-city tour. She is a native of New York and a graduate of Simmons College in Boston.
