Hilltop Photo of the Week
Welcome to Birmingham-Southern's “Hilltop Photo of the Week” web page and archives. Each week at this site, we'll feature a photo that depicts some aspect of life on the Hilltop campus, along with brief information about what is taking place in the Photo of the Week.
The college welcomes submissions to be considered for the Hilltop Photo of the Week. Scanned or digital photos can be e-mailed to the Office of Communications at email@example.com, or photographic prints may be sent through campus mail to Box 549004. Please limit photo submissions to those that depict some aspect of the BSC experience, and be sure to identify what is taking place in the photo, along with location and people involved.

Washington internship experience—Zach Guyse of Decatur (on right), a junior history major at Birmingham-Southern, gained some valuable political experience this summer when he interned for 1987 BSC alumnus and U.S. Rep. Robert Aderholt (R-Ala.). Guyse spent four weeks working with Aderholt on Capitol Hill, all the while receiving a close-up look at how government is run and how political decisions are made. He is president of the BSC College Republicans.
Building partnerships for service learning—Several Birmingham-Southern students and faculty members and agents from the college's nine community partners gathered on campus Friday, Aug. 21, to discuss how to better incorporate service learning into the lives of BSC students. The college's Bunting Center for Engaged Study and Community Action hosted the Partnership Breakfast, which included representatives from First Light Women's Shelter, Woodrow Wilson Elementary School, Urban Kids, and Habitat for Humanity. At left, Sara Doughton, assistant director of the Bunting Center, talks with Woodrow Wilson schoolteacher Gloria Blackwell.
