BSC Photo of the Week

Hilltop Photo of the Week

Welcome to Birmingham-Southern's “Hilltop Photo of the Week” web page and archives. Each week at this site, we'll feature a photo that depicts some aspect of life on the Hilltop campus, along with brief information about what is taking place in the Photo of the Week.

The college welcomes submissions to be considered for the Hilltop Photo of the Week. Scanned or digital photos can be e-mailed to the Office of Communications at bwagnon@bsc.edu, or photographic prints may be sent through campus mail to Box 549004. Please limit photo submissions to those that depict some aspect of the BSC experience, and be sure to identify what is taking place in the photo, along with location and people involved.

For whom the bell tolls: BSC's seniors—Few seniors at Birmingham-Southern miss the opportunity to mark their achievement by pulling a rope atop the Neal and Anne Berte Humanities Center on campus. On Wednesday, May 6, in accord with BSC tradition, seniors made their celebratory climb up the center's stairway to ring the bell signifying the end of classes for the spring 2009 semester. The senior bell ringing took place several times throughout the day and ended in the late afternoon with 153 rings in honor of the college's anniversary. Shown are Anna Nichols (on left), an English major from Inverness, and Channing Kennedy, an interdisciplinary history/political science major from Athens. The event was started at BSC some 25 years ago.
