Hilltop Photo of the Week
Welcome to Birmingham-Southern's “Hilltop Photo of the
Week” web page and archives. Each week at this site, we'll
feature a photo that depicts some aspect of life on the Hilltop campus,
along with brief information about what is taking place in the Photo
of the Week.
The college welcomes submissions to be considered
for the Hilltop Photo of the Week. Scanned or digital photos can
be e-mailed to the
Office of Communications at bwagnon@bsc.edu, or photographic prints
may be sent through campus mail to Box 549004. Please limit photo submissions
to those that depict some aspect of the BSC experience, and be sure
to identify what is taking place in the photo, along with location
and people involved.

Long live the king and queen—Music major Meagan Langford of Hueytown and biology major William Moore of Clanton, both seniors, were crowned the 2008 Birmingham-Southern Homecoming Queen and King Nov. 8 during halftime ceremonies of the Homecoming football game against conference foe Sewanee. The students were nominated and selected by their peers. This was the first game played at BSC's new Panther Stadium on campus and the first time in college history that Alumni Reunion and Homecoming were paired together on the same weekend. Garden party—The Birmingham-Southern student band Jump Function made a joyful noise to the dozens of listeners who were gathered on campus recently for the BSC Garden Club's “Raising of the Beds” inaugural event. The new BSC Garden Club, led by sophomore Ben Tracy, was organized and launched in conjunction with the new urban environmental studies major that was implemented this fall at BSC. Located next to the college's Hilltop Village Apartments, the garden will promote sustainable organic farming methods for plants, vegetables, herbs, and flowers. Band members pictured performing are (from left) Katie Gregory, bass; Lauren Sellers, vocals; Connor McVey, drums; and Joey Wilson, guitar.
