Hilltop Photo of the WeekWelcome to Birmingham-Southern's “Hilltop Photo of the Week” web page and archives. Each week at this site, we'll feature a photo that depicts some aspect of life on the Hilltop campus, along with brief information about what is taking place in the Photo of the Week. The college welcomes submissions to be considered for the Hilltop Photo of the Week. Scanned or digital photos can be e-mailed to the Office of Communications at bwagnon@bsc.edu, or photographic prints may be sent through campus mail to Box 549004. Please limit photo submissions to those that depict some aspect of the BSC experience, and be sure to identify what is taking place in the photo, along with location and people involved. The left/right debate—Students at Birmingham-Southern recently got the chance to witness two pols squaring off for 60 minutes in a debate representing the Democratic and Republican presidential nominees. Rep. Artur Davis, D-AL (pictured left of center), represented Senator Barack Obama, and lobbyist and Republican Luther Strange (right of center), who ran for Alabama Lt. Governor in 2006, portrayed Senator John McCain. The mock presidential candidates spoke openly about issues such as the war in Iraq that they would address once in office. Seeing Davis and Strange face off led some to note that this could be a preview of the 2010 Gubernatorial contest in Alabama. BSC Political Science Professor Dr. Natalie Davis (center, beige suit) invited them to the campus as part of an intensive two-week course she's teaching on the 2008 presidential election—designed for first-year students at BSC. |
