BSC Photo of the Week

Photo of the Week

Welcome to Birmingham-Southern's “Hilltop Photo of the Week” web page and archives. Each week at this site, we'll feature a photo that depicts some aspect of life on the Hilltop campus, along with brief information about what is taking place in the Photo of the Week.

The college welcomes submissions to be considered for the Hilltop Photo of the Week. Scanned or digital photos can be e-mailed to the Office of Communications at bwagnon@bsc.edu, or photographic prints may be sent through campus mail to Box 549004. Please limit photo submissions to those that depict some aspect of the BSC experience, and be sure to identify what is taking place in the photo, along with location and people involved.

Homecoming and family weekend—Birmingham-Southern combined two big events Oct. 6. For the first time, Homecoming and Family Day were held on the same weekend. More than 700 family members of current BSC students participated in this year's Family Day event. They attended a breakfast and breakout sessions, had appointments with faculty, attended sorority and fraternity open houses, and spent time with their BSC students. Pictured above, parents and students enjoy breakfast on the Academic Quad while listening to a welcome by President David Pollick. Pollick also hosted a breakout session titled, “Your Family and Ours: How They are the Same, but Different.” Following Family Day, BSC played its first homecoming football game since 1939 against conference foe DePauw University at Regions Park. Below, Kadie Ann Duren, a senior psychology major from Hoover, and Jeff Tullis, a senior psychology major from Gadsden, were crowned Homecoming Queen and King during halftime ceremonies.
