Photo of the Week
Welcome to Birmingham-Southern's “Hilltop Photo of the
Week” web page and archives. Each week at this site, we'll
feature a photo that depicts some aspect of life on the Hilltop campus,
along with brief information about what is taking place in the Photo
of the Week.
The college welcomes submissions to be considered
for the Hilltop Photo of the Week. Scanned or digital photos can
be e-mailed to the
Office of Communications at bwagnon@bsc.edu, or photographic prints
may be sent through campus mail to Box 549004. Please limit photo submissions
to those that depict some aspect of the BSC experience, and be sure
to identify what is taking place in the photo, along with location
and people involved.

Distance learning—The Office of Residence Life at Birmingham-Southern has revived a program geared toward supporting commuter students. The Commuter Student Union, begun this past summer, is a student-led organization which supports student commuters by helping them feel connected to the college outside of the classroom and addressing issues that directly impact their lives. BSC commuters Jan Alexander of Carrollton, Ala., and Laura Baughman of Wilmer, Ala. (left to right) are shown in the Commuter Student Lounge of the Norton Campus Center after their participation in one of several programs held recently on campus to reach out to commuters. During this program, commuters were given free tire gauges, car air fresheners, and automobile maintenance tips. Currently, commuters comprise 19 percent of the BSC student population.
