Hilltop Photo of the Week
Welcome to Birmingham-Southern’s “Hilltop Photo of the Week” web page and archives. Each week at this site, we’ll feature a photo that depicts some aspect of life on the Hilltop campus, along with brief information about what is taking place in the Photo of the Week.
The college welcomes submissions to be considered for the Hilltop Photo of the Week. Scanned or digital photos can be e-mailed to the Office of Communications at bwagnon@bsc.edu, or photographic prints may be sent through campus mail to Box 549004. Please limit photo submissions to those that depict some aspect of the BSC experience, and be sure to identify what is taking place in the photo, along with location and people involved.

Rushing to be Greek—Early in each fall term at Birmingham-Southern comes Recruitment Week, a formal membership drive for sororities and fraternities. Alpha Omicron Pi (pictured raising their banner) was one of six sororities on campus that welcomed its newest members at the college’s colorful Sorority Recruitment Bid Day Sept. 11. After receiving their bids, the new sorority women celebrated with their sisters in Bruno Great Hall of the Norton Campus Center. “The event concluded a week of sorority recruitment activities on campus,” said Misty Garrett, BSC coordinator of student life. “Sorority Recruitment 2007 was a huge success, pledging 106 women.” The college’s six national fraternities held their annual Bid Day Sept. 12 with a ceremony and open house for parents and friends. The following day, the college’s Interfraternity Council held a Block Party to congratulate new fraternity members. The Greek community at BSC provides a support system for students while fostering leadership, philanthropy, sisterhood, and brotherhood.
