Photo of the WeekWelcome to Birmingham-Southern's “Hilltop Photo of the Week” web page and archives. Each week at this site, we'll feature a photo that depicts some aspect of life on the Hilltop campus, along with brief information about what is taking place in the Photo of the Week. The college welcomes submissions to be considered for the Hilltop Photo of the Week. Scanned or digital photos can be e-mailed to the Office of Communications at bwagnon@bsc.edu, or photographic prints may be sent through campus mail to Box 549004. Please limit photo submissions to those that depict some aspect of the BSC experience, and be sure to identify what is taking place in the photo, along with location and people involved.
Tailgating, Panther style—Excitement was brewing at the Panther Football Tailgate Party on the Birmingham-Southern campus Sept. 6 right before the college's first football game since 1939. In the photo above, students, faculty, staff, alumni, and parents share some tailgating fun with music and food. Pictured below (from left), BSC students John Schultz, Aaron Parr, and Redmond Flemming had their bodies painted in the school colors before the big game. The Panthers were victorious that evening with a 41-13 win over the Mississippi College junior varsity in front of a crowd of nearly 3,400 at Legion Field. The next two Panther football games are Saturday, Sept. 15, at noon at Regions Park in Hoover against Rhodes College, and Sunday, Sept. 23, at 1:30 p.m. versus Maryville College in LaGrange, Ga.
