Hilltop Photo of the Week
Welcome to Birmingham-Southern’s “Hilltop Photo of the Week” web page and archives. Each week at this site, we’ll feature a photo that depicts some aspect of life on the Hilltop campus, along with brief information about what is taking place in the Photo of the Week.
The college welcomes submissions to be considered for the Hilltop Photo of the Week. Scanned or digital photos can be e-mailed to the Office of Communications at bwagnon@bsc.edu, or photographic prints may be sent through campus mail to Box 549004. Please limit photo submissions to those that depict some aspect of the BSC experience, and be sure to identify what is taking place in the photo, along with location and people involved.

Brotherly support—The brothers of Sigma Chi fraternity at Birmingham-Southern recently held their yearly Derby Days philanthropic event which raised $5,000 for the Children’s Hospital of Birmingham. Derby Days, also supported by BSC sororities and local businesses, is a week of activities and fun to raise money for the hospital. The college’s fraternity men and sorority women participated in activities such as a date auction and Derby games on the academic quad. “The brothers of Sigma Chi at BSC are proud and humbled to be able to contribute our time, effort, and money to such a worthy cause,” said Ford Ray, a senior from Decatur and president of the fraternity’s BSC chapter. “Derby Days is all about us going out there and having a great time, while raising money to help the children at the hospital.” Above, Sara Horton, coordinator of community development at Children’s Hospital, receives a $5,000 check from BSC students (from left) Jeff Vaughan, a sophomore from Palm Springs, Fla., Sigma Chi treasurer; Art Richey, a junior from Russellville, Sigma Chi Derby Days coordinator; and Ray.
