Photo of the Week
Welcome to Birmingham-Southern's “Hilltop Photo of the
Week” web page and archives. Each week at this site, we'll
feature a photo that depicts some aspect of life on the Hilltop campus,
along with brief information about what is taking place in the Photo
of the Week.
The college welcomes submissions to be considered
for the Hilltop Photo of the Week. Scanned or digital photos can
be e-mailed to the
Office of Communications at bwagnon@bsc.edu, or photographic prints
may be sent through campus mail to Box 549004. Please limit photo submissions
to those that depict some aspect of the BSC experience, and be sure
to identify what is taking place in the photo, along with location
and people involved.

Jump start on college—Sarah Garrett, a recent graduate of Homewood High School, and her mother, Nancy Garrett, recently attended June Jump Start, Birmingham-Southern's traditional summer orientation day for incoming students and their families. They were among nearly 800 students and parents who participated in the annual daylong event. Student activities that day included an academic open house, visits to residence hall rooms, a roommate roundup, getting ID's made, and placement tests. Parents attended information seminars on financial aid, residence life, and “questions and answers with BSC staff.” “This summer orientation day offers students and families the opportunity to gain an even stronger sense of connection with their BSC family before the more hectic pace of Move-In Day occurs in August,” says Sara Hoover, BSC director of personal counseling. “We want students and parents to leave knowing who they can turn to for questions that may arise before the fall term.”
