BSC Photo of the Week

Photo of the Week

Welcome to Birmingham-Southern's “Hilltop Photo of the Week” web page and archives. Each week at this site, we'll feature a photo that depicts some aspect of life on the Hilltop campus, along with brief information about what is taking place in the Photo of the Week.

The college welcomes submissions to be considered for the Hilltop Photo of the Week. Scanned or digital photos can be e-mailed to the Office of Communications at bwagnon@bsc.edu, or photographic prints may be sent through campus mail to Box 549004. Please limit photo submissions to those that depict some aspect of the BSC experience, and be sure to identify what is taking place in the photo, along with location and people involved.

Photo of the Week

'Southern calm—As happens each year between spring and summer terms on the Hilltop, the Birmingham-Southern campus looks pretty empty except for this skeletal man who is sitting comfortably on a bench reading. BSC student Alex Blackman, a junior art major from Nashville, designed the figure as part of a Sculpture I art class. The sculpture is made from wood, wire, and copper, and sits on the north side of the Kennedy Art Center/Azar Art Studios. The campus won't be quiet and vacant for long though. Summer term classes start June 13, and June Jump Start pre-orientation for the newest (and what certainly will be a record-breaking!) class of first-year students is June 30. Add in dozens of sports, music, and theatre camps, and it will be another summer filled with activity at Birmingham-Southern.
