Hilltop Photo of the Week

Welcome to Birmingham-Southern’s “Hilltop Photo of the Week” web page and archives. Each week at this site, we’ll feature a photo that depicts some aspect of life on the Hilltop campus, along with brief information about what is taking place in the Photo of the Week.

The college welcomes submissions to be considered for the Hilltop Photo of the Week. Scanned or digital photos can be e-mailed to the Office of Communications at bwagnon@bsc.edu, or photographic prints may be sent through campus mail to Box 549004. Please limit photo submissions to those that depict some aspect of the BSC experience, and be sure to identify what is taking place in the photo, along with location and people involved.

A classic comedy—Birmingham-Southern dance and theatre students are showing off their version of William Shakespeare’s romantic comedy As You Like It Jan. 25-27 at 7:30 p.m. and Jan. 28 at 2:30 p.m. in the College Theatre, Mainstage. The play, set in contemporary Argentina, is fused with a Latin-American flare that includes a Tango dance and culturally inspired scenic, lighting, and costume designs to present an interesting twist. It is the culmination of an Interim theatre arts class in which 31 BSC students are enrolled. “As You Like It is one of Shakespeare’s most beloved comedies,” notes Alan Litsey, BSC theatre professor and director. “Audiences will savor the artistic achievement and teamwork of BSC theatre’s 31 outstanding students. It is an evening of romance, song, dance, and laughs!” Faculty and staff collaborating on the production include Matthew Mielke (scenic and lighting design) and Patti Manning (costume design). Guest artist Nira Pullin is the choreographer. General tickets, now on sale, are $10 ($5 for college students) and are available at the College Theatre Box Office.
