Hilltop Photo of the WeekWelcome to Birmingham-Southern's “Hilltop Photo of the Week” web page and archives. Each week at this site, we'll feature a photo that depicts some aspect of life on the Hilltop campus, along with brief information about what is taking place in the Photo of the Week. The college welcomes submissions to be considered for the Hilltop Photo of the Week. Scanned or digital photos can be e-mailed to the Office of Communications at bwagnon@bsc.edu, or photographic prints may be sent through campus mail to Box 549004. Please limit photo submissions to those that depict some aspect of the BSC experience, and be sure to identify what is taking place in the photo, along with location and people involved.
January in Budapest—Birmingham-Southern students participating in the January Interim term travel-study project Democratization in Eastern Europe take time out from their adventures to pose in the hills of Buda overlooking Pest and the Danube River in Budapest, Hungary. According to BSC senior international studies major Kris Sornsin (who submitted the photo), this particular day was the first sunny one on their trip. Led by BSC Professor of Political Science Dr. Natalie Davis (second row, far right), the project is designed to examine the process of democratization in Eastern Europe with travels to Germany, Hungary, Poland, the Czech Republic, and Russia. The most distinctive part of the BSC experience, Interim term extends the classroom by giving students time away from traditional academics and activities and allowing them to engage in creative opportunities. Students may choose from on- and off-campus projects, independent study or research, group and individual study-travel experiences, and challenging internships.
