Hilltop Photo of the Week

Welcome to Birmingham-Southern’s “Hilltop Photo of the Week” web page and archives. Each week at this site, we’ll feature a photo that depicts some aspect of life on the Hilltop campus, along with brief information about what is taking place in the Photo of the Week.

The college welcomes submissions to be considered for the Hilltop Photo of the Week. Scanned or digital photos can be e-mailed to the Office of Communications at bwagnon@bsc.edu, or photographic prints may be sent through campus mail to Box 549004. Please limit photo submissions to those that depict some aspect of the BSC experience, and be sure to identify what is taking place in the photo, along with location and people involved.

Photo of the Week

Celebration of healing—Government leaders, pastors, and church members were among a group of nearly 300 who gathered for a Church Restoration Celebration Dinner in October at Birmingham-Southern. U.S. Rep. Artur Davis (top photo, right) and Alabama Gov. Bob Riley (on left) were among those who attended to celebrate all that has been accomplished in the rebuilding and restoration of the 10 Alabama churches destroyed by arson in February. The pastors and as many as 20 members from the congregations of each church also attended. In addition to Riley and Davis, other speakers included BSC President David Pollick (center); Dennis Leonard of FOX6 WBRC-TV; Carolyn Warziniack, representing anonymous donors from Jackson Hole, Wyo.; Rev. Jim Parker, pastor of Ashby Baptist Church; and Rev. Glenn Harris Sr., pastor of Spring Valley Baptist Church. In the photo below, the Young Voices of Galilee from Galilee Baptist Church conclude the evening with a musical presentation. Birmingham-Southern was able to distribute more than $368,000 to the churches through the Alabama Churches Rebuilding and Restoration Fund.
