Hilltop Photo of the Week Welcome to Birmingham-Southern's “Hilltop Photo of the Week” web page and archives. Each week at this site, we'll feature a photo that depicts some aspect of life on the Hilltop campus, along with brief information about what is taking place in the Photo of the Week. The college welcomes submissions to be considered for the Hilltop Photo of the Week. Scanned or digital photos can be e-mailed to the Office of Communications at bwagnon@bsc.edu, or photographic prints may be sent through campus mail to Box 549004. Please limit photo submissions to those that depict some aspect of the BSC experience, and be sure to identify what is taking place in the photo, along with location and people involved. Bringing up the house—The brothers of Birmingham-Southern's Sigma Chi fraternity recently assisted the Birmingham chapter of Habitat for Humanity as one of the fraternity's annual projects to reach out to people in need. The fraternity members worked all day Saturday, Oct. 28, to help put up siding on a Habitat house in Irondale. The house is being sponsored by the Episcopal Diocese of Alabama and several local Episcopal churches. Also volunteering that day were BSC Professor of History Dr. Mark Lester (far left), who is a Habitat member through Cathedral Church of the Advent, and his wife, Jeanne Jackson (not pictured), BSC director of leadership and environmental studies. Maibeth Dees, a 2002 BSC graduate, who is the Episcopal Diocese Habitat coordinator, helped organize the fraternity project. Habitat for Humanity of Birmingham is a nonprofit Christian ministry with a motivation to build and renovate houses. The corporation has built approximately 245 houses in the greater Birmingham area since it began its work.
