Hilltop Photo of the Week

Welcome to Birmingham-Southern’s “Hilltop Photo of the Week” web page and archives. Each week at this site, we’ll feature a photo that depicts some aspect of life on the Hilltop campus, along with brief information about what is taking place in the Photo of the Week.

The college welcomes submissions to be considered for the Hilltop Photo of the Week. Scanned or digital photos can be e-mailed to the Office of Communications at bwagnon@bsc.edu, or photographic prints may be sent through campus mail to Box 549004. Please limit photo submissions to those that depict some aspect of the BSC experience, and be sure to identify what is taking place in the photo, along with location and people involved.

Gridiron fundamentals—As Birmingham-Southern prepares to field its first football team in 68 years in fall 2007, new BSC Football Coach Joey Jones and his coaching staff held a free, one-day basic skills football clinic on campus July 26 for youth ages 8 through 14.  Some 125 young football players rotated from station to station on the intramural fields to work on passing, receiving, agility, and giving and receiving hand-offs.  They also were treated to lunch and received a Joey Jones Football Camp T-shirt.  BSC announced this summer plans to revive its football program, which has been dormant since 1939.  The camp provided an opportunity for Jones to reach out to the local community as well as build a fan base for the future BSC Football Panthers.  Pictured here, Jones (white shirt, standing and pointing) instructs the campers during a break in the action.
