Hilltop Photo of the Week Welcome to Birmingham-Southern’s “Hilltop Photo of the Week” web page and archives. Each week at this site, we’ll feature a photo that depicts some aspect of life on the Hilltop campus, along with brief information about what is taking place in the Photo of the Week. The college welcomes submissions to be considered for the Hilltop Photo of the Week. Scanned or digital photos can be e-mailed to the Office of Communications at bwagnon@bsc.edu, or photographic prints may be sent through campus mail to Box 549004. Please limit photo submissions to those that depict some aspect of the BSC experience, and be sure to identify what is taking place in the photo, along with location and people involved. Football on the Hilltop—Former University of Alabama star and Mountain Brook High School coach Joey Jones addresses the media June 19 shortly after it was announced that he had been hired to revive a Birmingham-Southern football program that has remained dormant since 1939. Jones compiled a 101-27 record in 10 years as head football coach at Birmingham’s Mountain Brook High School. He was an All-SEC wide receiver for legendary head coach Paul “Bear” Bryant at the University of Alabama from 1980-83. BSC, the newest member of NCAA Division III’s Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference, is expected to begin play on the gridiron in the fall of 2007. More on the hiring can be found here.
