Hilltop Photo of the Week

Welcome to Birmingham-Southern’s “Hilltop Photo of the Week” web page and archives. Each week at this site, we’ll feature a photo that depicts some aspect of life on the Hilltop campus, along with brief information about what is taking place in the Photo of the Week.

The college welcomes submissions to be considered for the Hilltop Photo of the Week. Scanned or digital photos can be e-mailed to the Office of Communications at bwagnon@bsc.edu, or photographic prints may be sent through campus mail to Box 549004. Please limit photo submissions to those that depict some aspect of the BSC experience, and be sure to identify what is taking place in the photo, along with location and people involved.

Photo of the Week

A fifth generation—When Birmingham-Southern senior psychology major Lisa Glenn (far right) received her diploma May 27 as a member of the college’s Sesquicentennial year Class of 2006, this Phi Beta Kappa, summa cum laude graduate became the fifth generation of her family to earn a degree from BSC. Joining her after Baccalaureate are proud parents Dr. Robert K. “Bob” Glenn ’75 (second from left), vice president for student affairs and vice provost for enrollment and academic services at Middle Tennessee State University, and Laura Whitehurst Glenn ’78 (second from right). At far left is her grandfather Rev. Kyle Glenn ’49 of Forth Worth, Texas. Lisa’s great-grandfather was Claude M. Glenn, who graduated from Birmingham College in 1914. Her great-great grandfather was Rev. Edgar M. Glenn, who attended old Southern University in the late 1870s. Edgar Glenn did not graduate from Southern, instead answering a call to the ministry. However, he later graduated from Birmingham College while serving as its president and signing his own diploma.
