Hilltop Photo of the Week
Welcome to Birmingham-Southern's “Hilltop Photo of the Week” web page and archives. Each week at this site, we'll feature a photo that depicts some aspect of life on the Hilltop campus, along with brief information about what is taking place in the Photo of the Week.
The college welcomes submissions to be considered for the Hilltop Photo of the Week. Scanned or digital photos can be e-mailed to the Office of Communications at firstname.lastname@example.org, or photographic prints may be sent through campus mail to Box 549004. Please limit photo submissions to those that depict some aspect of the BSC experience, and be sure to identify what is taking place in the photo, along with location and people involved.

A photo or two
April is a busy month on the Birmingham-Southern campus, and this week, two photos caught our fancy.
Distinguished alums—Birmingham-Southern College presented three of its most accomplished alumni with the 2006 Distinguished Alumni Award during the Legacy Luncheon April 27 in the Bruno Great Hall on campus. Receiving the honor were (from left) Martha Jane Patton, a 1968 BSC graduate and an attorney and executive director of the Legal Aid Society of Birmingham; Dr. Kenneth W. Bramlett, a 1977 BSC graduate and an orthopaedic surgeon in practice at the Alabama Orthopaedic Institute; and Margaret Enslen Sherrill, a 1951 BSC graduate and a retired medical technologist. Since 1965, 109 Birmingham-Southern alumni have received the Distinguished Alumni Award for their professional and personal accomplishments.
Speed eaters—Birmingham-Southern sorority members dig into creme-filled pies in their search for the winning gumball during a Greek Week “Hidden Gumball Race” activity. “Students had to find a certain color to win, explains Gary Wiser, coordinator of BSC student development and co-coordinator of Greek Week festivities. “The purpose of the college's annual Greek Week is to celebrate being a member of a sorority or fraternity, and to show unity,” Wiser says. Greek Week festivities were held during the afternoons of April 24-27. Birmingham-Southern is home to eight sororities and seven fraternities.
